How NCR Paper Works

NCR paper uses a coating system: the back of the top sheet (CB — Coated Back) is coated with
micro-encapsulated dye. The middle sheets (CFB — Coated Front and Back) and the bottom sheet
(CF — Coated Front) react chemically with this dye when pressure is applied, creating a clear
copy on each successive sheet.
